Chapter 12 Sniping
Chapter 12 Sniping
Lu Ye pressed himself tightly against the scope, his gaze sweeping over a patch of ruins several hundred meters ahead.
"11 o'clock, 420 meters away, behind a half-brick wall," Lu Ye quickly reported the location. "Something's unusual there!"
Seryozha immediately moved his gun barrel horizontally, observed for a moment, and said, "Indeed, there are three people, one of whom occasionally peeks out to observe the battle situation with binoculars."
"The one with the binoculars is in officer's uniform; he must be the commander," Lu Ye confirmed.
Seryozha took a deep breath: "It's a bit far, and there's a crosswind. I need some time to take the measurements."
Just then, Lu Ye keenly noticed an unusual rustling sound coming from the bushes on his right.
He lowered his observation goggles and looked in the direction of the sound with his naked eye. He could vaguely see several figures in camouflage uniforms taking advantage of the terrain to quickly approach the earthen slope where they were.
"We've been exposed." Lu Ye lowered his voice, but his tone remained calm. "To our right, about 150 meters away, there's a search team flanking us. They've spotted the sniper position."
Seryozha frowned slightly, his finger still on the trigger, his eyes fixed on the enemy commander through the scope: "I can't afford to be distracted. I only have one chance to fire. Lu, go down and stop them!"
"You focus on dealing with him." Lu Ye paused for a moment, then nodded. He grabbed the AK-74M that was beside him and casually inserted the spare magazine into his tactical vest.
Seryozha didn't turn his head, but simply said in a deep voice, "Don't die."
"Don't worry, I'm tough."
Lu Ye crouched low and quickly retreated, using the reverse slope of the hillside to move rapidly to the right.
He could clearly feel a huge improvement in his physical condition compared to before.
Not only were his steps lighter, but his breathing remained steady as he ran quickly across the rugged slopes, and his thigh muscles contained explosive power.
He stopped behind a pile of rocks about fifty meters away from the sniper position.
The terrain here is slightly higher, allowing for a clear view of the bushes on the right.
"Five." After a quick glance, Lu Ye silently counted in his mind.
Soon, the first enemy scout came into his view.
The other person, holding an AK-74, was carefully parting the branches, his eyes scanning upwards warily. Distance: 80 meters.
Lu Ye silently positioned the AK-74M between two rocks, the butt firmly against his shoulder, and the sights locked onto the opponent's chest.
Basic Shooting (LV4)
Static shooting accuracy increased by 60% (actual accuracy 95%).
Lu Ye held his breath, and "Bang!" A crisp single-shot burst rang out.
A burst of blood suddenly erupted from the soldier's chest. Without uttering a sound, he collapsed into the bushes.
"Twelve o'clock, pile of rocks!" The remaining four enemy soldiers reacted quickly, scattering instantly and pulling the trigger at the same time toward Lu Ye's location.
"Da da da da da!"
A hail of bullets struck the rocks in front of Lu Ye, sending stone chips flying everywhere.
The moment Lu Ye fired, he rolled away from his original firing position and slid down the slope to the right towards a thick oak tree.
He couldn't stay put and be suppressed by fire; he had to move.
"He's there! Behind the tree on the right!" an enemy soldier shouted, gun at the ready, as he flanked from the side.
Lu Ye leaned against a tree trunk, listening to the rapidly approaching footsteps and judging the distance.
Ten meters, eight meters, five meters
It's now!
Lu Ye suddenly darted out from behind the tree, his gun barrel rising rapidly as he moved.
In his line of sight, the enemy soldier's face was filled with astonishment. Before he could pull the trigger, Lu Ye's AK-74M had already spat fire.
"Da da!" A precise short burst of fire ripped the enemy soldier's throat apart.
"The second one." Just as Lu Ye was about to retreat behind the tree, a gunshot suddenly rang out from the left.
Lu Ye felt a burning sensation on his left arm, as if he had been slashed by a red-hot wire. He groaned, lost his balance, and tumbled into a shallow pit.
[WARNING! Host has taken damage. Current HP: 90/100 (decreasing)]
Looking down, he saw a tear in his training uniform on his left forearm, and blood was flowing from the wound. Fortunately, it was just a scrape, and no bones or arteries were damaged.
"Damn, I was careless." Lu Ye gritted his teeth, ignoring his wound.
"He's wounded! Push him down!" The remaining three enemy soldiers were greatly encouraged and advanced towards the shallow pit in a semi-encircling formation.
Lu Ye took a deep breath, tore an F-1 fragmentation grenade off his tactical vest, pulled out the safety pin, and silently counted to two.
"Three, two, one!"
He forcefully threw the grenade out of the shallow crater, landing it towards the direction where the two enemy soldiers were on his left. "Grenade! Take cover!"
"Boom!" With a loud explosion, debris and soil shot into the sky.
A scream came from the center of the explosion, indicating that someone had been hit by shrapnel and lost their fighting ability.
Almost at the same instant the explosion rang out, Lu Ye leaped out of the shallow pit like a cheetah, raised his rifle, and aimed at the remaining enemy soldier on his right.
The man had just raised his head from his prone position when he was met head-on by Lu Ye's cold gun barrel.
"Bang! Bang!" Two bullets hit his head precisely, and the man fell straight back down.
"The fourth one."
Without pausing, Lu Ye turned his gun towards the spot where the grenade had exploded. An enemy soldier, his thigh and abdomen mangled by shrapnel, was groaning in agony on the ground. Seeing Lu Ye approach, he struggled to reach for the rifle lying nearby.
"Bang!"
Lu Ye fired a final shot without expression, ending his suffering.
In less than two minutes, the five-person search team was wiped out.
[Working with Seryozha, six enemy soldiers were killed, score increased by 300]
[Single-handedly killed five enemy soldiers, gaining 500 points.]
"Only the battlefield can allow me to quickly accumulate points and extend my lifespan," Lu Ye thought to himself. He then shook his left arm to make sure it wouldn't affect his ability to fire. He quickly changed the magazine on his rifle and turned to move towards the sniper position where Seryozha was located.
Just as he walked back to the vicinity of the sniper position, a muffled gunshot rang out.
Lu Ye immediately lay down on the edge of the earthen slope, raised his observation glasses, and looked into the distance.
Behind the section of brick wall 420 meters away, the enemy commander dressed as an officer had half his head missing, lying stiffly in a pool of blood.
The two people next to them frantically searched for cover.
"Target hit, target confirmed dead." Seryozha's voice came through the tactical headset, still cold and hard, but if you listened carefully, you could detect a slight, almost imperceptible, relaxation.
"Well done!" Lu Ye exclaimed sincerely.
[Cooperate with Seryozha to kill the enemy commander, score +100]
With the commander dead, the enemy's offensive immediately fell into chaos.
The artillery crews that had been bombarding the transport vehicles on the road with mortars ceased firing, and the enemy in the woods and on the slopes began to retreat under alternating cover.
"The enemy has begun their retreat!" Anton's voice crackled through the headset, tinged with a sense of relief at having survived a close call. "The interference is gone, but we still can't contact the camp!"
"Keep in touch!" Dmitri ordered.
