Chapter 3 A Transformative Rebirth
Chapter 3 A Transformative Rebirth
In an instant, my consciousness spun around.
After Xia Yaozu recovered from the more intense jolting than a roller coaster, he heard a gentle female voice.
"Lady Alicia, this...this is the 'hero' that Sean found in the human world?"
His voice was filled with confusion and a hint of anger, clearly indicating that he believed Sean had failed to fulfill his responsibilities.
Lying on the ground, Xia Yaozu looked around and found himself in an incredibly luxurious room.
The floor was covered with a deep red carpet, and he could feel its silky smoothness as he braced himself on the ground. Above the ceiling hung an incomparably magnificent giant crystal chandelier, cascading in three tiers, each facet perfectly cut, pouring down a warm yellow light.
Most importantly, he looked in the direction of the voice and saw the figure who had spoken earlier.
She was a very beautiful girl.
She had a cool and aloof expression, and wore a maid outfit with black velvet and white lace, with a pink satin ribbon bow at the neckline. The skirt reached her knees, revealing her fair calves covered in black stockings.
She clasped her hands together in front of her lower abdomen, her fingertips pale as wax, her nails a faint cherry pink.
Her long, silver hair cascaded down to her waist like a waterfall, and her flawless, ruby-like eyes gazed at the human boy on the floor with scrutiny.
The moment their eyes met, a word flashed through Xia Yaozu's mind—"vampire".
Not those bizarre vampire cosplayers at anime conventions, but real vampires.
"Iro, you can't judge a book by its cover. The soul and appearance are not entirely connected. Even the ugliest and most pathetic body may conceal a noble soul."
Alicia said calmly, seemingly forgetting the overwhelming rage she felt upon first seeing Xia Yaozu, which had driven her to want to tear Sean apart with her own hands.
"I've learned a lot. Thank you for your guidance, Lady Alicia."
Upon hearing this, the vampire maid bowed slightly, and her gaze toward the human boy held a newfound respect, unlike the previous cold indifference she had shown when examining an insect.
"Iro, go to my vault and fetch a bottle of life potion," Alicia ordered.
"My lord, the Life Potion is the highest-grade Sun-level potion. Shouldn't we reconsider this more carefully..."
Upon hearing this, Yiluo immediately guessed what her lord was thinking, and she couldn't help but offer her advice.
Are you questioning my decision?
The maid was met with the master's cold gaze.
"I wouldn't dare."
The vampire maid immediately knelt on one knee, bowing her head deeply, her smooth forehead so humble that it almost touched the carpet.
"Go."
"Yes."
The maid dared not be negligent and disappeared from the spot the moment she raised her head.
That was an extreme speed that even Xia Yaozu, as a human being, could not observe, a speed beyond the realm of common sense.
...
Just a few dozen seconds later, the vampire maid returned to the room.
She now held something in her hand—a slender-necked crystal bottle, its surface plain and undecorated, yet so transparent it seemed almost nonexistent.
It was filled with a bottle of liquid, which was a rich and vibrant emerald green and seemed to contain countless tiny golden specks, like a swarm of fireflies in a summer park.
Gudong.
Xia Yaozu couldn't help but swallow.
For some reason, the moment he saw the emerald green liquid in the bottle, every cell in his body seemed to become restless.
"Drink it, drink it, drink it, drink it!" the cells were shouting frantically.
If it weren't for his relatively strong will and ability to maintain his rationality, he probably would have rushed over and snatched the crystal bottle without a second thought.
"Give me."
"Yes, Lady Alicia."
Tapping.
Alicia took the life potion and walked step by step to Xia Yaozu.
The boy looked up at the tall, slender Grand Duchess in front of him, and unconsciously shrank back when he was stared at by those majestic, golden eyes.
Wow...that's scary! Much scarier than the head of the grade!
"Open your mouth," Alicia commanded.
The boy obediently opened his mouth, revealing his crooked teeth.
The Grand Duchess frowned deeply once again.
How pathetic... Thankfully it'll be over soon.
She raised her hand and used her long, slender, white fingers to unscrew the cork from the crystal bottle.
The moment the cork was removed, a rich fragrance instantly filled the entire room.
It's like the faint fragrance of grass or pine resin naturally emanating from a forest after a light rain.
Even a vampire maid, a high-ranking demon, felt her magic power surge the moment she smelled the fragrance.
Feeding a human the highest-grade solar-level potion... such a wasteful act could only be done by Lady Alicia in the entire Seventh Ring of Hell.
Iro secretly lamented in her heart.
...
"This potion is incredibly precious even to me; it's one of the most important items in my treasury," Alicia said again.
"Human, if you dare spill even a single drop of the life-giving elixir, your head may fall off your shoulder. Do you understand?"
"I heard you clearly."
The boy, with his mouth agape, nodded vigorously.
The next moment, the emerald green liquid slowly poured out of the bottle and into his mouth.
Splash, gurgle.
Xia Yaozu maintained this posture until the crystal bottle became completely empty without wavering.
He didn't spill a single drop.
"Well done," Alicia praised, then turned and walked toward the door.
"Let's go, Iro, we need to give this human some private space."
"Yes, sir."
Click.
The door was closed again, leaving Xia Yaozu alone in the room.
Crunch, crunch.
Before he could even ponder the meaning behind the other person's words, the boy felt as if something had fallen out of his mouth.
He opened his mouth and spat it into his palm, only to find a few yellowed teeth.
"What?! My tooth fell out!"
Xia Yaozu was terrified, but a few seconds later, he experienced unprecedented pain all over his body.
This feeling was as if all the organs in his body were rebelling, pulling and trying to break out of his body, which was no less than being torn to pieces!
"Ahhhhh!"
He roared and rolled wildly on the ground, waving his hands haphazardly, crawling in the shadows...
boom!
That was the crisp sound of a vase shattering on the ground.
...
After an unknown amount of time, Xia Yaozu's consciousness gradually recovered from the pain, and he slowly opened his eyes.
What came into view was a room in complete disarray.
The deep red carpet was overturned and torn apart, revealing a solid wood floor splattered with dark red bloodstains, shards of a vase, and strips of clothing.
The crystal chandelier tumbled halfway down from the dome, several chains broke, and facets shattered on the floor. The remaining light spots scattered across the floor, making the scene even more chaotic.
Deep scratches and handprints were visible everywhere on the walls, and the window screens had been roughly torn off...
"Did...did I make this?"
The boy stared blankly at his fair, jade-like hands; he had never realized his hands were so beautiful before.
In addition, the ceiling of the room seemed to have become much lower.
