Chapter 1054: A Condition or a Clause?
Chapter 1054
Gustav’s body tore through the earth like it was mere parchment, throwing up a mountain of dust into the air after being headbutted by Grey, who was now gliding through the skies and landing back down.
The ground had suffered immensely from their clash since the beginning, and it seemed like it wouldn’t survive for much longer as giant craters littered the whole area, and one more had just been added after Gustav’s slam.
Lifting his hand into the air, five hundred ki swords orbited around Grey before launching toward the crater where the leader of the Otherworlders lay.
’I know that he has probably teleported from there.’
The weapons dispelled the cloud of dust to reveal the giant crater, and they went all in with loud explosions echoing deep within the hollow.
But no screams were heard. No curses. And neither was there any sound that might make it seem like his attacks had been blocked.
’Means I was right. Isn’t there a cooldown for this thing? Or does he have unlimited mana? I’m sure that a magic like that can take up huge chunks of mana, yet he has been using it repeatedly without pause. Is there a condition, a clause I don’t know of? Is there something I can use to disable that?’
He could feel a rush of air coming from his side and, almost immediately, he whirled around only to receive a metallic, booted smash into his face that threw his head to the side.
The inertia yanked his body and sent him flying backward with brutal force.
Gustav landed, dispelling the heavy metallic boots, and sent lightning coursing through his body before lunging forward in a lightning-fast movement.
Grey tumbled across the earth for a few seconds before digging his hand into the soil and halting his bounce.
And just at the right moment, as Gustav descended from above with an axe kick powered by lightning and the metal that coated around his feet.
"Spatial Folding."
Immediately, the distance between the two grew exponentially as the kick obliterated the ground into a rain of rubble and nothingness.
Grey stood a few meters away.
"Folding."
The space between them both shrunk back exponentially, therefore catching Gustav unaware as the warrior-mage drove his fist into the man’s face, sending his head flinging backward.
Before he could go flying at all, the leader vanished from view, then repositioned himself in another place.
"Wind magic; Sky Cutter!"
"Heaven Shredder!" Gustav too shouted.
A horizontal slash of wind that was as big and long as four trees stacked together burst into view around the Supreme Magus, while a crescent cut of metal that seemed like it was touching the very heavens appeared in front of Gustav.
"Go."
Father and son spoke in unison.
Immediately, the attacks rushed forward, their tips tearing through the ground with each step they took.
The earth was being ripped open as they collided with each other.
Sky Cutter turned into brittle glass against Gustav’s attack, which still continued onward toward the mage.
Diving away in time, Grey watched as the strike plowed deep into the ground, cleaving it apart in a deep trench that made it seem like a giant’s axe had done the damage.
Gustav materialized before the mage with his fist encased in metal speeding toward the warrior.
However, Grey didn’t back down as Ki coursed through his very veins, and he thrust his hand forward, crashing with the man’s knuckles.
Bang!
The air shuddered from the crash of their knuckles.
Without any words whatsoever, their second fists rushed at each other and, instead, collided against their knuckles, further splitting the terrain apart.
The whole ground split apart like a wave of water.
They glared into each other’s eyes.
Then they vanished from view.
Grey appeared in the air as his hands moved.
"Mountain Breaker!"
A stone pillar rose from the ground and curled downward immediately, rushing into a specifically empty spot.
Gustav appeared in that exact same space only to be faced with a humongous pillar that looked like a hammer crushing toward his skull.
Metal shot forward from the earth and curved into a hammer before colliding with the pillar in a rain of debris and rocks.
"Fusion magic; ThunderLance."
Grey was beginning to throw everything he had at this point as a condensed spear of lightning, with wind howling around it, appeared in view.
It spun like a drill with the lightning arcing with intensity.
Crash!
The spear flew forward with blazing speed while being carried by the wind that boosted its momentum exponentially.
Gustav remained unfazed as metal surged upward, forming a solid wall in front of him.
The spear collided with the wall in a reverberating ring that spread across the whole planet, and then, cracks appeared across the barrier as if it were made of earth.
Then, with more force from the wind, the spear ripped through the wall, sending it crumbling into pieces only to reveal that Gustav was nowhere to be seen.
The spear froze mid-air and then spun around, rocketing into an empty position where the leader of the Otherworlders suddenly materialized.
Gustav’s eyes widened in shock as metal wrapped around his hands, which he crossed in front of him.
Bang!
The spear ripped through the metal and smashed into the man’s forearms, tearing a deep gash in them that drew blood.
’An attack that doesn’t stop till it hits its target. Figured,’ Gustav groaned inwardly as he was pushed backward from the force of the strike.
He was lurching uncontrollably.
Turning his head around for a second, he could see five hundred swords gleaming directly behind him, ready to shred his body.
With a blink, the man was gone.
Grey twirled around as if noticing something.
But it was too late.
Gustav stood directly before him like he had always been there and, mid-motion, a gigantic metal hammer was speeding toward his face.
WAM!
A delayed shockwave later, the ground beneath the hovering figures turned to dust as the Supreme Magus’ body was sent flying backward like a sniper bullet.
Within a second, his body crashed into the jagged mountain ridges that tore upward like the broken fangs of some dead celestial beast.
His body plowed through them immediately.
