Chapter 11 You little devil
Chapter 11 You little devil
Time has come to this point.
"President Li wants to see my song, right?" Li Yuan said with a smile.
The agent didn't speak, but his silence was the best answer.
The name Li Yuan is well-known in their talent agency—a famous music production genius who achieved fame at a young age.
Opening the list of works he has participated in, even a casual glance is enough to make people gasp: Kim Tae-yeon's "I", title tracks and B-sides from his own group's several comeback albums, and some hit songs from other companies.
Although he basically only writes songs for girl groups or female solo artists, his achievements speak for themselves and no one can deny them.
Besides, which company doesn't have a few girl groups or female solo artists?
On the idol industry's assembly line, girl groups are always the product line with the largest output and the fastest turnover.
However, Li Yuan uses stage names for his songs, and his public recognition is almost negligible. You might have heard of his stage name, but if he stood in front of you, you would never associate this young man in his early twenties with those hit songs that were on the charts.
"Well, what's done is done. What should we eat later?"
Li Yuan made a sudden 180-degree turn, switching the topic so abruptly that everyone present was stunned.
The agent was the first to react and immediately chimed in, "Um, well, we booked a private room at 'Sanzhuyuan Hakka Restaurant'."
"Please do me the honor of meeting Li Yuanxi." He paused, then added respectfully.
This time, the higher authorities allocated a sufficient budget specifically to appease the young man in front of them.
If the problem could be solved with just a meal, it would be like a windfall. A weight was lifted from the agent's heart.
"Let's go then. Everyone must be hungry, right?" Li Yuan smiled and looked around, his gaze finally landing on Jiang Seulgi, who was already rubbing her stomach and swallowing.
"Yeah! I've been wanting to go eat for ages!" Kang Seulgi said impatiently.
She had originally planned to grab a bite to eat before the clarification meeting, but her manager assured her that they would be going to a really good restaurant, so she held back until now.
Her pitiful willpower had long been exhausted, and if food wasn't served soon, she felt she might starve to death.
"Anyway, it's your company treating, so eat whatever you want." Li Yuan waved his hand, "Let's try to eat your company out of business."
That was obviously a joke—with just a few of them, trying to squeeze every last drop out of SM Entertainment by eating them would be impossible even in their next life.
"I'll go first, you guys can come later." Li Yuan glanced at the group who had already packed their things and were ready to leave, then thought for a moment, "It wouldn't be good if we got photographed again."
"Indeed, Li Yuanxi is very thoughtful."
"This is also based on my experience—" Li Yuangang was about to continue when his cell phone suddenly rang in his pocket, interrupting him with a rapid ringing.
He took out his phone, and a name popped up on the screen.
He quickly glanced at the crowd staring at him, then looked down at the persistently vibrating caller ID, and sighed helplessly, "Wait a few minutes, I need to take this call."
I can't ignore this call. If I don't, who knows what might happen.
"Okay, please take this first." The agent tactfully took two steps back.
"Um."
Everyone watched with curiosity as Li Yuan walked to a corner of the room and found a relatively quiet spot to stand.
He took a deep breath, as if preparing for a storm, and then pressed the answer button.
"Feed?"
"You damn bastard!" The sound of the enemy's firepower was so loud that it could be clearly heard even without speakerphone.
Li Yuan reflexively moved the phone away from his ear, frantically turning down the volume several times before putting it back to his ear.
Bae Joo-hyun, who was closest to him, twitched her ears slightly. She heard the voice coming from the microphone, and a subtle surprise flashed across her face.
How could it be her?
"No, let me explain..." Li Yuan waited until the other party finished all her questions and accusations in one breath, and then quickly interjected a sentence during the gap in her breathing.
As expected of SM's main vocalist, his breath control is amazing; he can say so many words in one breath without even panting.
"What else do you want to explain? You scumbag!" Kim Tae-yeon's furious voice exploded from the microphone again, as if it would shatter Lee Won's eardrums. "Who was it that told me I was too young to date and that I should focus on my studies? What's going on here?"
Her speech became faster and faster, and she was about to start the second rap.
"I'm not..." Li Yuan paused, his mind racing for a few seconds before he realized, "No, why should I explain to you? You're not my girlfriend!"
I and Kim Tae-yeon are just good friends at best. Isn't she being a bit too nosy?
The tone and attitude—anyone unaware of the situation would think it was the girlfriend catching them in the act.
"That's the person most qualified to be your girlfriend!" Kim Tae-yeon's voice noticeably weakened, changing from her previous aggressive tone to a kind of aggrieved, coquettish tone. "I was the first person to confess to you."
"How can you calculate it like that?" Li Yuan rubbed his temples helplessly.
That was several years ago.
When Kim Tae-yeon confessed her feelings to him, he thought she was joking, so he casually rejected her, saying that he actually liked the type like Yuri who had a good figure and was tall, trying to change the subject in a half-joking way.
As a result, Kim Tae-yeon went berserk on the spot and almost had a real-life fight with him, and he realized that she was not joking after all.
What's even more outrageous is that Kim Tae-yeon even came up with the idea of "jumping into the Han River"—but not her, she forced Lee Won to jump.
She said that if he didn't agree to her confession, she would throw Li Yuan off the Han River Bridge.
So Li Yuan casually said, "I'm not an adult yet, I can't date, I have to focus on my studies."
Kim Tae-yeon also learned about some Chinese culture and knew that there was a saying about early dating there, so she didn't continue to pester him.
Li Yuan thought that the matter was over and done with.
When Lee Won went to South Korea for the summer after graduating from high school, Kim Tae-yeon brought up the matter again, and Lee Won said he would think about it.
The next day, Li Yuan went straight back to China. Kim Tae-yeon once thought that Li Yuan was deliberately avoiding her, and she treated him very badly that year.
"So what happened?" Kim Tae-yeon asked, her anger subsiding.
"Didn't I come to Taiwan to watch the SBS variety show...?"
"What? You went to Taiwan?" Kim Tae-yeon's surprised voice rang out. "I should have gone! They invited me but I didn't go. If only..."
"Do you still want to hear it?" Li Yuan was still waiting to go eat.
"Go on, go on." Kim Tae-yeon chuckled twice, her tone so obedient it was as if she were a completely different person.
"...That's all there is to it. There's really nothing there." Li Yuan finished explaining in less than a minute.
"That's it?"
"Or what else do you want to happen?"
"That's good." Kim Tae-yeon visibly relaxed, her voice becoming lighter. "I was thinking of calling you yesterday, but I hesitated all day and kept putting it off until now."
To be honest, Kim Tae-yeon is someone who is easily mentally drained; she was anxious for a whole day before making a phone call about something that was just a small matter.
"We're going to eat now, have you eaten?" Li Yuan asked casually.
"I haven't eaten." Kim Tae-yeon pouted, her voice carrying a childlike sense of grievance. "You can't treat me to food anyway."
"Go eat if you haven't eaten yet," Li Yuan's voice softened. "I'll treat you when I get to Korea. I've been busy all day, I'm starving."
"Then go ahead," Kim Tae-yeon said decisively this time. "Remember to eat well!"
After she finished speaking, she hung up the phone.
Li Yuan looked down at the screen, shook his head, and put his phone back in his pocket.
Then he turned around and met the gazes of everyone in the room.
"What are you looking at?" He raised his chin, waved his phone, and said, "Let's go eat."
