Chapter 30 Interstellar Wanted Criminal - Gray Harbor
Chapter 30 Interstellar Wanted Criminal - Gray Harbor
"You get some rest first, I'll report the situation to headquarters right away."
After listening to Cheng Xu's account, Hu Zhou realized the seriousness of the situation. After saying a few words of concern, he rushed out of the room without looking back.
After sharing all the information he knew with Director Hu, the subsequent issues should have been a headache for the leadership and the management bureau.
After all, he was just an ordinary employee who had been with the company for less than a year.
Whether it was rescuing those trapped or unexpectedly learning the truth about the Crystal Tomb riot, he had done the best he could in this mission for Golun Star.
But when Cheng Xu tried to convince himself with this reason, he couldn't calm down at all.
Nathaniel's resentful voice echoed in his mind, and the gray-clad man's seemingly elegant but actually contemptuous expression kept appearing before him.
"Brother Cheng, are you alright?"
Seemingly noticing Cheng Xu's dazed expression, Fields peeked out from the side, waved his hand in front of Cheng Xu's eyes, and looked at him with concern.
Since following Cheng Xu to the Explorers Guild branch outpost for rescue, and now that he has been safely rescued, Cheng Xu's position in Fields' heart has become closer to that of a pillar of support.
In Fields' view, whether in the branch stronghold or during his struggle for survival after falling into the rift, he probably would have died several times over if it weren't for Cheng Xu's presence.
He aspired to be an excellent explorer since childhood, but his experiences these past few days have dealt him a heavy blow, making him reflect on himself.
His lifelong wish was to become famous in the stars as the explorer Fields, not as the so-called "son of the president of the Explorers' Guild".
Coincidentally, Cheng Xu's bravery, composure, and quick wit are qualities that he longs to possess.
That "Brother Cheng" was a genuine expression of his feelings.
"Cough, cough..."
Cheng Xu was about to respond, but he had said too much in his haste, and his throat was dry, causing him to cough repeatedly.
"Cough, thank you." After taking the hot water from Fields, Cheng Xu took the initiative to ask about what happened in the outside world after he was sucked into the consciousness space.
Fields recounted the incident and he learned that his coma had genuinely startled many people.
Inside that cave, Fields watched helplessly as Cheng Xu collapsed, clutching the crystal, and remained unconscious no matter how much he called out to him.
In a moment of urgency, Fields and the two exploration team leaders worked together to carry Cheng Xu back to the refuge.
Fortunately, less than five minutes after they returned to the shelter, Hu Zhou arrived with the Bureau's rescue team as if by divine intervention.
Later, Fields heard from Hu Zhou that the command center in space had seen the signal flares they had released and immediately dispatched personnel to provide support.
The rescue team eliminated the crystal rock people surrounding the shelter and also deployed two transport ships.
One of them is the one Cheng Xu is currently on.
The other spacecraft took the members of the two exploration teams, as well as Liang Lin and Bi Yan, away for preliminary physical examinations and medical treatment.
"Brother Cheng, you don't know, the director named Kagaga was also on another spaceship. When he saw that we were safe and sound, he cried his eyes out, and diamond fragments flew everywhere."
A slight smile appeared on Cheng Xu's face.
He knew that Director Kagaga had stayed on Golun Star because of the two exploration teams, and now that all the team members had survived unharmed, he was happy for Kagaga.
Fields continued, saying that because of the special circumstances of Cheng Xu's coma, the two spaceships decided to split up.
One ship carried most of the rescued people to a neighboring planet for refuge, while the other ship, with Cheng Xu leading Hu Zhou, returned to the temporary camp.
Under Fields' strong insistence, Hu Zhou reluctantly agreed to let him board the spaceship to take care of Cheng Xu.
Just as Fields finished recounting what had happened during Cheng Xu's coma, Hu Zhou walked in from the doorway.
"Xiao Cheng, I have just reported the intelligence and clues you provided to the command center and am awaiting further instructions and deployments from the branch office."
He pulled up a stool and sat down beside Cheng Xu's hospital bed.
"As of just now, the rescue operation for the survivors on Golun Star is nearing its end, with most of the trapped personnel successfully rescued."
He didn't explicitly say what happened to those outside the "majority," but Cheng Xu could basically guess that this small group of people had likely perished in the catastrophe on Golun Star.
"The information you provided is very important. Command has focused its attention on the lava lake in the core area of the Crystal Tomb and is organizing personnel to explore it."
"As for the man in gray you described..."
Hu Zhou placed a transparent tablet computer in Cheng Xu's hand.
"Look, isn't that him?"
The tablet lit up, and an image came into Cheng Xu's view.
He has a three-centimeter-long scar on his left eyebrow, wears an eye patch over his right eye, and his short black hair is still messy.
The man's appearance was very distinctive. Cheng Xu only described his physical characteristics to Hu Zhou, and the Bureau's database already had the results.
"That's the guy!"
Cheng Xu nodded firmly.
It looked almost exactly the same as what he had seen through his consciousness before, the only difference being that the unrestrained expression on his face was gone.
"Sigh... It was him. We might be in trouble now."
Hu Zhou rubbed his temples.
Even from the perspective of the captain of the "Worker Bee" special operations team, the gray-clad man that Cheng Xu encountered was a character that would give him a headache.
"He is an interstellar wanted criminal, codenamed Gray Hub, and belongs to the Purification Bureau, a vicious organization that has been hostile to the Administration for many years."
Upon hearing the word "Purge Bureau," Cheng Xu's pupils contracted.
As an employee of the Anomalies Management Bureau, he knew all too well what that name meant.
That was a notorious evil group in interstellar society, whose core goal was to overthrow the existing interstellar order, and it was a major enemy of the Administration.
"Grey Pivot was born on Kizil Star in the Sila Galaxy about two thousand years ago, and came into the sight of the Administration Bureau seventeen hundred years ago."
Hu Zhou retrieved information about this interstellar wanted criminal for Cheng Xu.
"He was originally an ordinary human, but due to being involved in an accident, he was affected by the Class A anomaly [Infinity]."
"After that incident, he exhibited the characteristic of being able to self-split multiple times, and thus gained a long lifespan."
"You may have heard about the disasters he caused during your onboarding training. The fall of the Gamma Aquila interstellar transit hub, the wandering star graveyard incident, and the Pegasus star siphon incident were all his doing."
Cheng Xu's eyes narrowed. These incidents Hu Zhou mentioned were all infamous interstellar disasters, and were they all the work of that gray-clad man?
"According to the information, he is mostly silent, but every 150 to 200 years he will appear somewhere in the interstellar society and cause devastating disasters."
Hu Zhou's expression was not good.
"The Administration has been trying to arrest him, but several operations have failed."
"Unexpectedly, the culprit behind the anomaly in the Crystal Rock Tomb is this guy..."
"Things have gotten complicated."
