Unrivaled Soldier in the City

Chapter 632: Guo’er’s Birthday

Chapter 632: Guo’er’s Birthday

"Alright, you’re the only one who can handle him. Here’s his number. I’ll dial it for you." Lin Guo’er hummed before dialing her father’s number.

"Here, I’ve dialed it for you." After placing the call, she handed the phone to Lin Kuang.

Lin Kuang took the phone and waited quietly for her father, Lin Wanli, to answer.

It didn’t take long for Lin Wanli to pick up. "Hello, Guo’er? Why are you calling your old dad now? Are you back already?" he asked with a smile.

Ever since Li Jiachen began collaborating with him, Lin Wanli’s company had experienced smooth sailing. He was developing more and more projects and was just waiting to rake in a huge profit. As a result, Lin Wanli was in an excellent mood, and his status in East Sea had improved considerably.

"Uncle Lin, it’s Lin Kuang," Lin Kuang said with a smile.

"Ah? Oh, you... it’s you, Lin Kuang?" Hearing Lin Kuang’s voice, Lin Wanli was momentarily stunned, and his tone instantly grew deferential.

Lin Wanli was well aware that his company and his standing in East Sea would never have reached their current heights without Lin Kuang. Therefore, he was not only incredibly grateful to Lin Kuang but also somewhat afraid of him.

"Yes, Uncle Lin. There’s something I’d like to discuss with you," Lin Kuang said pleasantly.

"Oh! What is it? Just tell me. If I can do it, I’ll get it done. Even if I can’t, I’ll do my best," Lin Wanli said cheerfully.

"It’s nothing serious. It’s just that Guo’er doesn’t want to come back for her birthday, saying it’s too noisy over there. I was thinking it might be best not to have her return. After all, today is her birthday, and her happiness is the most important thing. Business is just business, wouldn’t you agree?" Lin Kuang explained with a smile.

Hearing this, Lin Wanli was taken aback. He had genuinely overlooked Lin Guo’er’s feelings. He’d intended to use her birthday as an excuse to invite some people over, discuss a bit of business, and maybe even show off a little. Now, hearing Lin Kuang’s words, Lin Wanli finally came to his senses. He had completely neglected his daughter’s feelings. Today was her birthday—what could possibly be more important?

Thinking of this, Lin Wanli felt a wave of shame.

"Lin Kuang, I’m sorry. Please tell Guo’er I apologize. Let her spend her birthday however she wants. I won’t interfere or make any demands," Lin Wanli said earnestly, having realized his mistake.

Hearing this, Lin Kuang smiled and nodded. "I understand, Uncle Lin. Thank you for being so considerate."

"No, don’t thank me. I was the one who was wrong. I overlooked Guo’er’s feelings. I’ve really done a poor job as a father," Lin Wanli said, quite embarrassed.

"It’s alright, Guo’er will understand. Should we leave it at that for now? Did you want to say a few words to Guo’er?" Lin Kuang asked with a smile.

"No need. Her mother and I will come to see her tonight," Lin Wanli said.

"Alright. Then we’ll leave it at that for now, Uncle Lin. We can talk more when we see you." With that, Lin Kuang hung up.

"Okay, your dad realized his mistake. He asked me to tell you he’s sorry, and he and your mom are coming over tonight," Lin Kuang said with a smile, handing the phone back to Lin Guo’er.

"Hmph, that’s more like it. You’re really something. My dad never listens to me," Lin Guo’er grumbled, feeling a little miffed.

"Alright, don’t dwell on it. Let’s have the company staff head home early today so we can really celebrate," Lin Kuang said with a laugh.

"Okay, it’s a plan! Ruotong and I will handle the cooking. The rest is up to you guys," Liu Shilin said with a laugh, her mood noticeably brightened.

Everyone nodded in agreement.

After lunch, Lin Kuang and the others got busy. Some went to order a cake, some went to buy wine and champagne, while others went grocery shopping to prepare the meal. The entire group was bustling with activity all afternoon.

By three o’clock, the young women from Yashi Company began to arrive. Duoduo, Susu, and the others all showed up, greeting Lin Kuang warmly.

Having not seen them in a while, Lin Kuang noticed that the two of them had become even more mature and adorable.

"You two have gotten even prettier," Lin Kuang said with a beaming smile as he looked at Duoduo and Susu.

"Not at all, Big Brother Kuang. You’re just saying that to make us happy," Duoduo said, her cheeks flushing. Her shy expression was utterly charming.

"No way, why would I tease you? I’m telling the truth," Lin Kuang said with a friendly smile.

At his words, Duoduo’s and Susu’s faces turned an even deeper shade of red, which left Lin Kuang slightly bewildered.

I haven’t even said anything. Why are they so shy? Lin Kuang wondered to himself.

"Big Brother Kuang, we’re going to go help Sister Shilin with the cooking now," Duoduo said with a blush.

"Ah, go on then. Go get busy, you two. Be careful," Lin Kuang said with a laugh.

With that, Duoduo and Susu scurried away.

It was well past five in the afternoon by the time everyone finished their tasks. Cake, fruit, champagne, beer, and all sorts of snacks were laid out neatly. By now, the main dishes were also ready.

Liu Shilin, Yang Ruotong, Duoduo, and Susu emerged from the kitchen, each carrying a platter.

"Everyone, the food’s ready! I think we can get started," Liu Shilin announced with a smile after setting out a large table full of dishes.

"Guo’er, our birthday girl, come on over!" Yang Ruotong called out with a smile when she saw Lin Guo’er’s flushed face.

Lin Guo’er walked over, her face red and her beautiful eyes filled with emotion. "Thank you, Ruotong. Thank you, Shilin. Thank you all for coming to celebrate my birthday," she said, her voice thick with emotion as her eyes began to mist over.

Seeing this, Lin Kuang quickly interjected, "My dear Guo’er, you haven’t thanked your man yet? That’s not fair!" he cried out, his voice full of mock grievance.

Of course, Lin Kuang was doing this on purpose. Lin Guo’er was clearly on the verge of tears, so he had to act the fool. After all, a birthday was a happy occasion and no time for crying.

Sure enough, at Lin Kuang’s words, Lin Guo’er shot him a glare. "Shut up. You just have to be part of everything, don’t you?"

"No way! Sister Guo’er, Big Brother Kuang, kiss, kiss! Quick, kiss!" Susu started chanting from the side.

Hearing her, Duoduo and the others joined in, and soon the large hall was filled with the sound of "Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!"

Lin Guo’er glared daggers at Susu and Duoduo. "Just you wait until tomorrow! I’ll deal with you two for causing such a scene!"

But just as she was speaking, Lin Kuang wrapped an arm around her slender waist and pressed a firm kiss to her crimson lips.
