Chapter 3 One-Way Wall?! Incredible!?
Chapter 3 One-Way Wall?! Incredible!?
Terra clicked into the menu, which had three slots, but only the first slot contained a very exquisite weapon:
[The Broken - The Best Bow in the Elf Village]
[Ammunition Used: Arrows]
Base damage: 2 (ranged)
[Repelled: 1]
Critical Hit Rate: 2%
Projectile velocity: 8
Price: 1 Gold Coins
Is this the new version of the Guide's exclusive weapon? No wonder we went to the trouble of rescuing the Guide. At a stage where slimes can only drop 7 copper coins, an item that can be sold for 1 gold coin, or 100 silver coins, should not be obtained so easily.
But this bow has such low attack power.
Before long, the invisible control over Andrea disappeared. Terra looked away from her head, set down his workbench, and right-clicked to make a new bow and some arrows for the guide.
It might increase your attack a little, but these things only require wood and stone and aren't worth much anyway.
A few seconds later, two more items appeared in his backpack:
Akuma's Wooden Bow *1
[Ammunition Used: Arrows]
Base damage: 5 (ranged)
[Repelled: 0]
Critical Hit Rate: 9%
Projectile velocity: 6.1
Base price: 20 copper coins
-
Wooden Arrows *200
Base damage: 5 (ranged)
[Repelled: 2]
Projectile velocity: 3
[Base Price: 2 Silver Coins]
Terra's head beamed with a smile: "The very first weapon I crafted had the best Demon affix? Lucky!"
Andrea couldn't understand Terra's words, but she felt that invisible binding force again, and then she saw a large bundle of arrows and a wooden bow appear in her hands.
Andrea didn't know that Terra had made this on the spot; she just assumed he still had a dimensional pocket. It's normal for a top-quality pocket to hold two or three large items.
Terra, a mage, actually uses a bow as a secondary weapon? That's quite an eye for talent.
Andrea glanced at it briefly; the arrows were of excellent quality, but the bow was ordinary, even looking like a practice piece by an apprentice.
Terra placed the wooden platforms she had made one block behind the earthen wall, lengthwise, and hammered them into a stepped, sloping shape. She said to Andrea, "To prevent you from opening the door and killing me, Director, I only made a one-way wall. Go on, Director!"
The so-called one-way wall utilizes the property that "when a character overlaps with a ramp block, the character will be immediately displaced several blocks." When Terra gets close to a platform shaped like a ramp, it will be pushed into the earthen wall, allowing it to pass through it. All creatures in the game can do this, including guides.
Enemies cannot pass through the walls, but Terra can go out and even get stuck inside the walls to attack enemies outside.
"Where to?" Andrea looked at the solid earthen wall that Terra was pointing at. Was she supposed to smash it open with her head?
Terra saw that the other party didn't move, and a frustrated bubble appeared above her head. Sure enough, you can't rely on a guide in combat.
Then, Andrea witnessed something she had never seen before: Terra's half-body passed through the solid wall via those stepped platforms, and she pulled out a pixelated manuscript that appeared out of nowhere and started waving it wildly.
"This magic called 'One-Way Wall' can actually make these blocks appear in one direction?" Andrea was thinking that Terra wouldn't have time to unleash attack magic, but she didn't expect that the final means of attack would be so simple and unadorned.
Andrea now understands why Terra carries a bow. She guesses that Terra's fighting style is probably to surround herself or others with blocks and then use physical attacks.
Each magic user can only specialize in a limited number of spells. Terra probably specializes in high-defense block magic, and is relatively unfamiliar with other spells.
As for the pickaxe, it was probably not offensive. It was likely just used to demonstrate how to get out.
Since Terra values her so much, she can't let her down. She also secretly harbored a desire to show off her archery skills to Terra.
Andrea slung the arrows over her back, took a deep breath, took a running start, and charged toward the earthen wall with a flying kick.
Outside the wall, an old goblin who was chopping at the earthen wall suddenly saw a pixelated pickaxe hit him, knocking him back a distance. Looking down, he saw that his thick iron breastplate had been torn open, and blood was flowing out.
"Damn it, how did this thing with the blocky bumps hit me? Is that a pickaxe? It looks as thick as a slab of stone, how can it be so sharp?"
He reluctantly stepped out of the pickaxe's range, only to see a foot emerge from behind the earthen wall and kick him in the face.
The goblins around them all turned their heads at the same time and watched as their leader rolled more than ten meters away and crashed into a tree behind him.
Several archers were the first to come to their senses, drawing their bows and aiming at Andrea, who emerged from the earthen wall.
Andrea pushed off the ground with her toes, leaped onto a tree branch, and dodged the arrows.
As the bowstring hummed, Andrea pierced the arm of one of the goblin archers who was aiming at her.
Another arrow pierced his throat.
"Stone arrowheads are so powerful? And the trajectory is completely accurate—what a fine arrow!"
Andrea moved nimbly among the shadows of the trees, dodging the arrows that were shot at her.
She hooked one foot onto a tree branch, hung upside down, aimed at the enemy, and drew her bow.
Within minutes, all the archers lying in ambush in the trees fell to the ground.
"Next, only the goblins on the ground are left."
However, just as she aimed and drew the bowstring taut...
"Snapped!"
Without warning, the bowstring snapped, leaving a bloody mark on Andrea's cheek.
The sudden situation startled her for a moment. A goblin arrow pierced her eye, but fortunately she reacted quickly and turned her head. The arrowhead grazed her ear and flew behind her.
She retreated into the shadows of the trees to examine the broken bow.
She clearly takes good care of herself regularly.
"Could it be that her companion deliberately sabotaged things? What is she trying to achieve by going to such lengths? Does she despise being associated with a lowly elf like myself so much?"
She took a deep breath to calm her anger and launched another attack.
It seems I'll have to use Terra's bow.
"You elf killed so many of my brothers! I'm going to catch you and make you stomp on my face for the rest of your life!" The sharp-eyed old goblin leader spotted the elf jumping out from the shadows of the trees, twisted his waist to gather his strength, and swung his machete out.
"Do you want to hear what you're saying?!" Andrea dodged the cleaver to the side and aimed to strike back.
She hadn't had high hopes for Terra's bow, but when she drew it with all her might, the unremarkable bow arm showed remarkable resilience, and the bowstring showed no signs of breaking.
It looks like ordinary wood and sinew no matter how you look at it.
Andrea couldn't help but smile: "I definitely have to ask Terra later which archery master was behind this!"
call out!
An arrow was shot.
It pierced through the crack carved by the Terran pickaxe on the old goblin's breastplate, and plunged into his heart, the arrow's fletching trembling.
The old goblin coughed up blood and knelt on the ground, the sunlight overhead casting a tattered golden edge on his silhouette.
"Is my path of resistance against the Goblin King's tyranny coming to an end here, Lord Erwin? I have not completed your mission. However, in the final moments of my short life, I have tasted the soles of an elf's boots, which can be considered a victory for my personal struggle."
The old goblin collapsed and couldn't get up.
"Ugh~ Even his last words before he died were still incredible, so convincing. I'm starting to admire this old guy for some reason." Andrea clicked her tongue with a disgusted look.
