Chapter 8Mina
Chapter 8Mina
It was almost 10 o'clock when I got back to my hotel.
He washed his face, sat down at the table, and opened his laptop. After thinking for a moment, he decided to start a live stream on Bilibili.
"Brothers, I'm late." He greeted the camera, and the comments section immediately started flooding with messages.
"Old Wan, you finally decided to come back!"
"Where did you go just now? Did you go see your female friend?"
"Confess!"
"I need to know your entire whereabouts tonight in three minutes."
Lee Won smiled, then took out the ticket Son Seung-wan had given him from his pocket and waved it in front of the camera: "A tycoon sponsored my front-row ticket."
The live chat exploded instantly.
"Holy crap, that's awesome!"
"How much does this location cost?"
"Old Wan, you've hooked up with a rich woman?"
"Was it given to you by the top female fan? Confess!"
"Is it sponsored by Dr.?"
"We're friends." Li Yuan waved his hand, then made a few adjustments in the backend. "I'll draw my own ticket. Fans in Taiwan or traveling here can participate. If you win, we can meet up in person."
As he spoke, he hung a lucky bag out.
The live chat erupted in another cacophony of screams and cries, with some saying they weren't in Taiwan, others asking if he could mail it to them, and still others pressing him on where he'd been all night.
Li Yuan ignored those irrelevant questions and started chatting with his viewers about tomorrow's concert.
Among the thousands of viewers in the live stream, one person's ID remained quietly on the list without sending any comments.
Named Jingnan.
She nestled on the sofa in her hotel room, the light from her phone screen reflecting on her fair face, making her eyes appear exceptionally bright.
She came to Taiwan to relax with Chou Tzu-yu—recently, she has been experiencing inexplicable heart palpitations and chest tightness, sometimes even suddenly unable to breathe, with numbness in her hands and feet, as if some invisible force is choking her.
At its worst, she couldn't even get on stage.
The doctor said it was due to too much stress and that I needed to rest.
The company was quite understanding and gave her a few days off.
Chou Tzu-yu then dragged her along to Taiwan.
Saying it was to relax was really just about finding a new place to daydream.
Mina has a Bilibili account because she initially supported Li Yuan's "career," and later she would occasionally watch game live streams.
The members of TWICE have a good relationship with Lee Won, after all, he wrote several of their songs.
He just always likes to tease himself with Sana...
She happened to be free at the moment, and when she saw that Li Yuan had started a live stream, she clicked on it casually.
She couldn't quite understand what he was saying—Chinese was still too complicated for her, especially Li Yuan's fast-paced speech mixed with various internet slang terms.
She could only understand a few words, such as "thank you" and "hello," and most of the time she was just watching the colorful text scrolling by in the live chat.
Then a lucky bag icon popped up on the screen, and she tapped it casually.
A few minutes later, she noticed her nickname appearing on the screen.
"What is this?" Mina asked, somewhat puzzled.
Because he hadn't logged in for a long time, Li Yuan forgot that this was Mina's Bilibili account, so he treated her as a lucky fan.
Immediately afterwards, I received a message from Li Yuan in my private message: an address and a time, along with "Congratulations on winning the prize, see you tomorrow".
Mina stared at the address for a long time, then silently opened the translation software and translated Li Yuan's private message into Japanese word by word.
It turns out they wanted her to go to a concert.
But it's alright, going to a concert to relax isn't a bad idea. Thinking this, the corners of her mouth unconsciously curved into a smile.
……
Mina slept soundly that night, a rare occurrence. She had no heart palpitations, no chest tightness, and didn't even have any dreams. She slept until dawn.
The next day, she arrived at the agreed location according to the address.
Li Yuan was also curious about who he would be meeting.
When he arrived at the location, he saw a girl who was "fully armed"—she was standing on a street corner, her hat brim pulled low, and her mask covering most of her face, leaving only her eyes visible.
Oversized black sunglasses perched on his nose, covering him completely, making him stand out conspicuously in this setting.
"Mina?"
Mina originally wanted to give him a "surprise", but Li Yuan recognized her as soon as he came up.
"How did you recognize me?" Mina's voice sounded a little muffled through her mask. She paused, then habitually added, "Onii-chan."
Li Yuan's expression froze.
He thought to himself: No wonder everyone likes Japanese girls.
That tone, that ending sound, it's really...
"We've known each other for so long, how could I not recognize you?" Li Yuan shook off those chaotic thoughts and smiled. "But if you want to go, just go see it. Didn't you buy a ticket?"
Mina laughed and said, "I just came here to relax because I was bored, and I didn't expect to win a prize while watching your live stream last night."
She then briefly explained her reasons for coming to Taiwan—the doctor advised her to rest, Tzuyu had work to do, so she came alone to change her environment.
"Then why are you even looking at the back rows?" Li Yuan asked almost without hesitation. "I happen to have a front-row ticket."
So that's what Son Seung-wan meant by giving herself two votes.
As he spoke, he handed over another front-row ticket.
"But where's Tzuyu?" Li Yuan asked as they walked. "It's been so long since I've seen her. Why isn't she with you?"
"Tzuyu is here for work," Mina said, walking beside him with her familiar pigeon-toed gait. "I'm the only one who's not working..."
Her voice lowered, tinged with self-deprecation.
"Alright then." Li Yuan shrugged with a hint of regret.
"What, am I not enough on my own?" Mina said something ambiguous, which was rare for her.
The moment the words left her mouth, she froze for a second, her ears turning a subtle pink, and she instinctively lowered her head to stare at the tips of her shoes.
Li Yuan was also taken aback, then smiled and shook his head: "How could that be? Being able to watch a performance with Mina is something many people would love to do."
"Hmph." Mina pouted. Her mask covered most of her face, but one could imagine the expression beneath it.
The two walked into the venue together. Staff and audience members were moving around in twos and threes, and there was a lot of noise from people and equipment being tested.
"I'm going backstage to say hello to Sister Pei and the others, do you want to come?" Li Yuan turned his head and asked her.
"No, thank you." Mina shook her head, then added after a moment's thought, "I'd rather just watch the show quietly."
Given her current state, meeting with the members of Red Velvet is really not a good idea.
She didn't want to be asked "What's wrong with you?" or "Are you okay?", nor did she want to bother explaining things that even she herself couldn't explain.
"Okay, you wait for me over there." Li Yuan pointed towards the audience seats. "I'll go to their place and pick up some snacks, I'll definitely get some of your favorites."
"Mm." Mina nodded, her eyes curving into two beautiful crescent moons.
She had no doubt about this.
Because Li Yuan really knew what she liked to eat.
